The Election Commission has issued new responsibilities and guidelines for Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Starting from the supervision of polling stations to the issuance of voter information slips, the Commission has issued 16-point guidelines.
The booth level officer will sit at the entrance of the booth and identify the voters. If there is any discrepancy, the Presiding Officer should be informed. BLOs cannot be given any other responsibility on the polling day. Voter Information Slip (VIS) will be distributed door to door.
It has been made mandatory for BLOs to maintain impartiality, if the allegations are proven, punishment will be imposed. VIS should be given only to the voter or an adult voting member of his family. Return the VIS that has not been distributed and submit it to the ASDD list.
If there are more women voters, it has been instructed to appoint female staff. It is mandatory to properly install webcasting and cameras in each booth. The cameras and lighting should be placed in such a way that the secrecy of the vote is maintained.
