Billawar, Jammu & Kashmir: In a significant action against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Des Raj, a Junior Assistant in the Social Welfare Department Billawar, for allegedly accepting a bribe.
According to official sources, the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification from a complainant. The bribe was reportedly sought in connection with processing or facilitating official work related to welfare benefits.
Acting on a complaint, the ACB laid a trap and successfully apprehended the official during the transaction. The accused has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain if more officials are involved in the case.
The ACB has reiterated its commitment to rooting out corruption and has urged the public to report any such incidents.
