On the Ganderbal encounter, J&K CM Omar Abdullah says, “I do not want to get into whether it should be a judicial or magisterial inquiry, because a judicial inquiry takes a lot of time. First of all, it is not easy to get a sitting judge these days, and the Supreme Court of India has placed restrictions to a large extent. Even appointing a retired judge is not that simple. I want the inquiry to proceed without wasting time so that the truth and facts come out before the public. I believe the route adopted by the LG, a magisterial inquiry, is appropriate. Now, let the inquiry do its job, and the truth will be brought before the people.”
