​BANI, KATHUA — A wave of grief has struck the nomadic shepherd community in the highlands of Bani following a devastating lightning strike that left approximately 60 sheep and goats dead late yesterday evening.
​The incident occurred during a period of intense weather activity characterized by heavy rainfall and frequent thunderstorms across the Jammu division. According to local reports, the lightning struck a high-altitude meadow where the flock had gathered for shelter, resulting in the instantaneous death of the animals.
