On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar reviewed ongoing development works in the district today and asked officials to speed up implementation while ensuring that every eligible person receives the benefit of welfare schemes. He chaired a meeting of heads of various departments at the District Administrative Complex and also reviewed the functioning of the departments.
Addressing the N-CORD meeting, he said all departments must work in coordination to eradicate drugs from society. District Police DSP Palwinder Singh said that in February, the police registered 111 FIRs under the NDPS Act and arrested 121 accused, while property worth Rs 16,90,400 was seized. He also said that 95 awareness seminars on drug abuse were organized during the month.
Road safety and enforcement
During the road safety meeting, the ADC directed officials to identify black spots and take safety measures to prevent accidents. The Transport Department said 83 school vehicles were checked in February under the Safe School Vehicle Policy and 4 challans were issued. The police department said 5,797 challans were issued during the month under the enforcement drive, including 633 challans issued on the spot, with fines totaling Rs 4,30,000 recovered.
Other reviews
He later reviewed work related to GST, excise, the district environment committee, UEIP, Swachh Bharat Mission Urban, solid and liquid waste management, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). He said the district administration’s goal is to ensure transparency, quality, and timely completion of development works, and that every scheme should reach the public effectively.
