Jharkhand: 6 sentenced to life imprisonment for gang rape of minor

LATEHAR (JHARKHAND): (Mar 29) A court in Jharkhand's Latehar district on Saturday sentenced six persons to life imprisonment for the gang rape of a minor.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (Second) cum Special Judge (POCSO), Sanjay Kumar Dubey, sentenced Kariman Ganjhu (38), Mukesh Ganjhu (27), Suresh Ganjhu (29), Pintu Ganjhu (25), Birendra Ganjhu (23), and Rohit Oraon (25) to life imprisonment.

The court found them guilty under Section 376D of the IPC (punishment for gang rape) and also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on each of them. In case of failure to pay the fine, they will have to undergo an additional two years of imprisonment.
