JAMMU, MARCH 28: The Government today clarified that the prohibition on alienation of land vested with ownership rights under Government Order No. S-432 of 1966 forms part of the original terms and conditions governing such transfers.

The information was provided in the House by Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, while replying to a question raised by Chander Prakash Gangaon behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The Minister informed that proprietary rights over State land were conferred upon cultivators under Government Order No. S-432 dated 03.06.1966, who had earlier been declared tenants-at-will in terms of Government Order No. LB/6-C of 1958.

The House was further informed that the matter is presently under examination in the concerned department for appropriate action under law.
