Happy Ram Navami! Celebrations for Ram Navami in Kolkata and across West Bengal are currently underway today,
Friday, March 27, 2026. The festival, which began yesterday, has seen vibrant religious processions (Shobha Yatras) and rallies across the city and neighbouring Howrah. 

Major Yatra & Celebration Highlights
* Grand Processions: Over 60 rallies are being held in Kolkata alone, with a total of 138 across the Kolkata and Howrah areas.
* Key Locations:
* Khidderpore: Large crowds and devotional energy have been reported during the processions in this area.
* Bhabanipur: Vibrant and colorful Shobha Yatras were observed in this South Kolkata neighborhood.
* Howrah: A significant rally organised by Anjaniputra Sena moved from Shibpur Kaziparato Howrah Maidan under strict monitoring.
* Kalighat Kali Temple: Special rituals and celebrations are taking place at this iconic temple.
* Dakshineswar Ramkrishna Sangha Adyapeeth: Devotees gathered here for prayers and spiritual festivities.
* Campus Celebrations: For the first time, Ram Navami pujas and celebrations were held at Jadavpur University and outside Calcutta University, led by the ABVP. 

Public & Travel Information
* Security & Monitoring: Approximately 7,500 police personnel have been deployed across Kolkata and Howrah to ensure peaceful celebrations. Drones and CCTV are being used to monitor major routes, especially in sensitive areas like Jadavpur,Entally, Cossipore, and Khidderpore.
* Traffic Updates: Expect significant traffic diversions and road blocks due to the high number of processions (estimated at 5,000 across the state). It is advisable to check local traffic updates before heading out.
* Holiday Status: Most banks and educational institutions in West Bengal remained closed yesterday, March 26, for the main festival day.
