Congress Leader Lauds HP Budget as Blueprint for Inclusive Growth
Una/Hoshiarpur/Daljit Ajnoha
District Congress Committee president Deshraj Gautam on Tuesday praised the Himachal Pradesh government's recently presented budget, terming it a document of public welfare and balanced development.
Speaking at a press conference in Una, Gautam said that despite limited financial resources, the government has shown foresight by presenting a budget that prioritises the needs of every section of society— the poor, farmers, women, youth, and employees.
He described the budget not merely as a collection of figures, but as a solid roadmap for the state's comprehensive and inclusive development. Gautam highlighted provisions for women's empowerment, noting that several schemes have been prioritised to make women self-reliant and boost their economic strength. He also commended relief measures for farmers and livestock rearers, which will strengthen the rural economy and inject new energy into agriculture. Calling the provisions for employees and pensioners a major relief, he said the government has positively addressed their long-standing demands.
Gautam emphasised the budget's focus on education, health, and infrastructure as crucial steps to secure the state's future. He hit back at the BJP's criticism, accusing the party of maintaining a negative stance and repeatedly obstructing development works in the state while now trying to mislead the public.
Targeting the Central government, Gautam criticised the discontinuation of revenue deficit grants to Himachal as against the state's interests, slamming BJP leaders' silence on the issue as exposing their double standards. He expressed confidence that under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's leadership, the state government will scale new heights of development, with the budget bringing positive changes and direct benefits to the people.
Senior Congress leaders including Comrade Jagat Ram Sharma, Tilak Raj Saini, Parveen Dua, Vijay Angra, Ashok Saini, Hemraj Saini, Daulat Ram, Ashish Sharma, Ashok Chaudhary, Pawan Kumar, Abhishek Sharma, Suresh Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, and Nikhil Sharma were present.
