JU to seek additional funds from Bengal govt for proper functioning: Official
KOLKATA: (Mar 24) The cash-strapped Jadavpur University decided to seek financial assistance from the West Bengal government, with its executive council resolving to request additional funds for maintenance, infrastructure and research needs, varsity officials said on Tuesday.
The move comes amid mounting concerns over deteriorating infrastructure across the campus, including hostels and academic buildings.
"Maintenance work in several buildings, including student hostels, has come to a halt. Most lifts do not have operators and have not been serviced," the official said, adding that fears have intensified following the death of a youth due to a lift malfunction at state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital recently.
