Cabinet approved the Telangana Hate Speech and Hate Crime Prevention Bill, 2026.
The bill aims to curb hate speech, inflammatory posts, and actions that disturb communal harmony or incite violence and clashes.

>> Cabinet approved the Parents Support Bill. Public representatives and employees (government and private) who neglect their elderly parents will face salary deductions. 15% of salary or ₹10,000 (whichever is lower) will be deducted and given to parents as support.

>> Cabinet approved the formation of a sub-committee to frame rules for the Rohith Vemula Act aimed at preventing caste discrimination in educational institutions. The sub-committee will be headed by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Members include ministers Damodar Rajanarasimha, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Ponnam Prabhakar.

>> The Cabinet decided to speed up the process of taking over the existing 69 km Hyderabad Metro Phase-1 project from L&T.
•The government is expected to pay around ₹15,000 crore, including debt, as per the sub-committee report.
•Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has been assigned responsibility for handling payments and transactions.
•HMRL will be designated as the nodal agency for the takeover.

>> Cabinet approved the Telangana Advocate Protection Bill. It comes in the backdrop of incidents like the murder of advocate couple Vaman Rao.

>> Cabinet approved the Telangana Platform-Based Gig Workers (Registration, Social Security and Welfare) Act, 2026. The bill provides for mandatory worker registration, creation of a Welfare Board, and a dedicated welfare fund. It ensures legal recognition, social security, and protection of rights for gig workers. The bill includes minor revisions to align with the Centre’s Social Security Code.

>> Cabinet approved the report of the independent expert committee on the caste survey conducted in the state led by Justice Sudarshan Reddy, prepared the report. A Cabinet sub-committee will further examine the report.
