Under Punjab government's "War Against Drugs" (yudh Nasian Virudh)campaign, the District De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Society, Hoshiarpur organised an awareness workshop at Ludhiana Beverages Limited, Coca-Cola Hoshiarpur Plant (LBPL), following directives from Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain (IAS).Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Swati Shemar was the chief guest, accompanied by Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Medical Officer In-Charge of the District De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre; Ravinder Kumar Jassal, Deputy Mass Media Officer; Paraminder Kaur and Prashant Adia, Counsellors; Tahreen Basra, Mental Health Fellow; Abhishek, Senior HR Manager, LBPL; and Pankaj Sanotra, Deputy HR Manager.Dr. Swati Sheemar emphasised that drug addiction is a grave social and health issue requiring constant awareness for prevention. She urged youth to adopt healthy lifestyles, stay away from drugs, and progress through hard work, stating that protecting the young generation is a collective responsibility. She encouraged them to become village guards and VDC members to spread awareness, adding that collective vigilance today can restore Punjab to its vibrant past.Dr. Jasleen Kaur detailed the harmful effects of drug addiction and motivated youth to avoid it.Counsellor Paraminder Kaur educated attendees on the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug abuse.Counsellor Prashant Adia informed that drug treatment in Hoshiarpur district is provided free by the Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department. He highlighted two de-addiction centres at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur and Dasuya, one rehabilitation centre, and 16 OOT clinics operational in the district.Tahreen Basra outlined ongoing activities under the campaign, including Surma programme, Village Guards initiative, and community-level awareness efforts.Ravinder Kumar Jassal provided information on the Cigarette Act. Concluding, Pankaj Sanotra thanked the health department team and expressed hope that LBPL staff would propagate the anti-drug message further.
