Odisha Govt Announces Incentives to Promote Authentic Odia Cuisine at Tourist Destinations

Bhubaneswar, March 9, 2026:
In a significant move to boost culinary tourism and preserve the rich food heritage of the state, the Odisha Tourism Department has issued a fresh notification encouraging the establishment of restaurants and eateries serving authentic Odia cuisine across key tourist destinations.
The notification, released under the provisions of the Odisha Tourism (Amendment) Policy–2026, outlines a framework to promote traditional Odia food through dedicated food outlets such as restaurants, cafeterias, and eateries. These establishments will primarily focus on serving indigenous dishes while adhering to the eligibility criteria specified in the policy.
According to the official order, the government has also published a list of identified tourism destinations within Odisha (Annexure-I), where such food outlets can be set up. The initiative aims to enhance the overall tourism experience by integrating local cuisine with travel.
Officials stated that the move is part of a broader strategy to position Odisha as a holistic tourism destination, where visitors can experience not just scenic beauty and heritage sites but also the authentic flavors of the region.
