DRI Busts Gold Smuggling and Illegal Melting Racket; ₹14.13 Crore Worth Seized
New Delhi/Kolkata: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted an organised gold smuggling and illegal melting racket operating between Delhi and Kolkata, seizing gold, silver, and cash worth ₹14.13 crore. Six people have been arrested in connection with the case.
DRI officers intercepted a passenger at New Delhi Railway Station who had arrived by train from Kolkata carrying foreign-marked gold intended for delivery to a receiver waiting outside the station.
Both the carrier and the recipient were immediately apprehended.
