Comrade Mattu and Tajinder Sodhi to receive 2025-26 Ganga-Yamuni Harmonious Award/Dr. Bagga

Former MP Chaudhary Balbir Singh and former MLA Principal Om Prakash Bagga dedicated their lives to fostering communal harmony, national unity, and secularism. Principal Om Prakash Bagga passed away on June 2, 1984, while Chaudhary Balbir Singh departed this world on May 10, 1985.Savera organisation convener Dr. Ajay Bagga, who works for social awareness, shared this information and announced that the 2025-26 Ganga-Yamuni Harmonious Award—in memory of Chaudhary Balbir Singh and Principal Om Prakash Bagga—will be presented to communist thinker and social worker Comrade Darshan Singh Mattu, and Sikh scholar Tajinder Singh Sodhi, former chairman of the Hoshiarpur Municipal Improvement Trust. Dr. Bagga stated that honouring these leaders will inspire people to promote love, affection, and communal brotherhood.The award, to be given on Labour Day in May, includes a memento, shawl, and ₹21,000 in cash for each recipient. Additionally, 15 students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 each. These are students who diligently deliver newspapers door-to-door every morning alongside their studies.Despite being politicians, Comrade Darshan Singh Mattu and Tajinder Singh Sodhi have devoted the past 40 years to public welfare. Both leaders work tirelessly to strengthen communal harmony and national unity in society.
