Mann Govt Wasting Assembly Time on Bickering, Sidestepping Punjab's Burning Issues/Tikshan Sood

Mann Govt Wasting Assembly Time on Bickering, Sidestepping Punjab's Burning Issues/Tikshan Sood

Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood has sharply criticised the Mann government's functioning in a press note released here, accusing it of shortening Punjab Assembly sessions and wasting precious time on petty squabbles instead of addressing the state's pressing problems.Sood pointed out that Punjab is grappling with a host of urgent issues, including deteriorating law and order, illegal mining under government patronage, rampant drug sales, unemployed youth wandering in search of jobs, and a development-starved state. He slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for failing to fulfil key promises: contract workers have not been regularised, pending DA instalments remain unpaid, and employees are still agitating for pay commission implementation and restoration of the old pension scheme. Similarly, no punishment has been meted out to those who desecrated the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, despite AAP's vows."None of these critical matters have seen serious discussion in the Assembly," Sood said, adding that the government is misleading people with false data. Punjab's financial health is in dire straits, with debt crossing ₹4 lakh crore—translating to a staggering ₹1.25 lakh per Punjabi. He noted that six days into the budget session, the entire time has been frittered away on mutual threats and bickering. "It appears there's collusion between the government and Congress to protect the regime through irrelevant debates," Sood alleged. Running even a single day's session costs crores, yet neither AAP nor Congress seems serious about improving Punjab's condition.
