Rourkela police......

Rourkela | March 12, 2026
In a significant step toward community-centric policing, the Rourkela Police successfully recovered and returned 106 stolen and lost mobile phones to their rightful owners today. The approximate cost of these mobiles is ₹32 lakhs. At a special distribution ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, SP Nitesh Wadhwani personally handed over the devices, emphasizing the department’s commitment to protecting the property of citizens.
This success follows the implementation of “Project SHIELD”, a tech-driven initiative that utilizes AI and an Integrated Control Room to track habitual offenders and monitor city-wide activities through a network of 220+ CCTV cameras. Rourkela Police also reminds citizens to participate in the “Pledge Your Camera” initiative to further strengthen urban surveillance.
