Charminar Police Arrest 2 in Illegal Mamool Extortion Case

Under the supervision of the DCP Charminar Zone, Charminar Police arrested two persons involved in illegally collecting “mamool” from pushcart vendors near Charminar. The case was registered based on a complaint by a cosmetic vendor who was threatened and forced to pay daily money to continue his business.

Accused Arrested:

A1: Shaik Naseeruddin @ Ganna Naseer (72), Rowdy Sheeter of Bhavani Nagar PS

A2: Md Azaan Quadri @ Toufeeq (42)

A3: Azhar – Absconding

They were apprehended on 12-03-2026 near Ruman Hotel, Mirchowk. The accused confessed to collecting ₹500 per day initially and later ₹1000 per day from pushcart vendors, threatening them with knives and forcing them to vacate if they refused.Both accused were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, while efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused.

Police appealed to vendors and citizens not to succumb to illegal extortion and to report such incidents immediately. Strict action will be taken against offenders.
