Mithun Chakraborty Rejects Mamata Banerjee’s Claim on Governor Change

A political row has erupted in West Bengal after the appointment of R. N. Ravi as the new Governor.

Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty has rejected Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s claim that the move is part of a plan by the BJP to impose President’s Rule in the state.

Banerjee alleged that the Centre’s decision to appoint Ravi as Governor ahead of the Assembly elections had political motives.

Responding to the allegation, Chakraborty questioned how the BJP would benefit if President’s Rule were imposed in West Bengal.

Speaking to reporters, he said the BJP would gain nothing from such a step and dismissed the Chief Minister’s claim.

Chakraborty also accused the ruling Trinamool Congress government of causing delays by repeatedly approaching the courts.

The remarks have intensified the political exchange between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.
