To day 10.03.2026 at about 05:30 PM, Staffs of Pithabata North Wildlife Range, while patrolling and monitoring forest fire in Nedam Forest detected three miscreants intentionally setting fire in the forest area the offenders attempted to flee from the spot. The Forester and Protection Assistants immediately chased them and apprehended one person. During the search, one big matchbox was seized from the possession of the apprehended person namely 1. Duryodhan Hansdah, Age-56 years, S/o Late Chama Hansdah, At-Bad Nedam, PO-Sorisapal, PS-Bangriposi, District-Mayurbhanj.
Based on the prima facie, it is ascertained that the above accused have violated the very provisions U/s-27, 29, U/s-30, 31, 32 of the Wildlife (Protection)Act.1972 and Punishable U/s- 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act.1972 amended up to 2022. Hence, the accused person is being forwarded herewith before Honorable Court CJM Baripada for necessary remand into judicial custody. Further investigation is in progress.
