Patwari held for taking ₹10,000 bribe in Srinagar’s Batamaloo

A Patwari was arrested in a trap operation in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Tuesday evening for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe.

Officials said the action was taken after a complaint alleged that the Patwari had sought money from a complainant for carrying out an official task related to revenue records.

Acting on the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap and caught the accused, identified as Safdar Hussain Mir, Patwari Batamaloo, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.

The accused was taken into custody and the bribe amount was recovered from his possession. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, officials added.
