MEN TO ACT AS BRAND AMBASSADORS FOR PROTECTION OF WOMEN IN SOCIETY.. CM REVENTHREDDY..

HYDERABAD(07-03-2026)

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called upon men to act as brand ambassadors for the protection of women in society. He said that along with registering complaints and police cases, ensuring the safety of women must also be treated as a collective social responsibility.

The Chief Minister advised youth to develop the courage to stand up and question whenever girls are harassed. Turning a blind eye to harassment only encourages crime, he said. The same concern we show when our own family members face harassment should be extended to every girl and woman in society, he added.

The Chief Minister participated in the inaugural programme of the “Stand With Her” campaign organised by the Telangana Police Women Safety Wing at the JNTU Campus Auditorium in Hyderabad. He unveiled the campaign brochure and appreciated the Women Safety Wing for launching an initiative that encourages men to play a responsible role in protecting the safety, dignity and equality of women.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister outlined the steps being taken by the Telangana Government to strengthen women’s safety while also promoting their economic empowerment and self-reliance.

“Observing International Women’s Day is not merely about organising programmes. While we often describe women as symbols of strength and the honour of the family, they should not have to step out of their homes with a sense of insecurity. Society must introspect and reform itself to eliminate such conditions,” he said.

He noted that a party led by a woman is currently governing Telangana and said the party has a long tradition of entrusting women with key roles and responsibilities, both before and after Independence. Women also played a significant role in the Telangana statehood movement, he added.

The Chief Minister said that today women are serving in key positions within the Telangana Police as well as in important departments of the government. A state or nation can be considered truly progressive only when girl children and women are socially and economically empowered, he stated.

Emphasising the government’s commitment, he said Telangana is giving equal priority to women’s safety and economic empowerment. Several initiatives are being implemented to strengthen women’s self-help groups. Under programmes such as Indiramma housing and interest-free loans, benefits are being extended in the names of women.

Women are also being encouraged to become owners of solar power generation units and RTC buses, enabling them to achieve greater economic independence.

The government has entered into agreements with companies such as Amazon to market products made by rural women of Telangana at the international level. The Women’s University has been named after Veeranari Chakali Ailamma, and statues of Telangana Thalli have been installed to symbolise the inspiration and strength of the girl child.

He stated that women’s leadership and empowerment will play a crucial role in achieving the goals of the Telangana Rising 2047 Vision. Telangana can emerge as a three-trillion-dollar economy only when women achieve economic progress, and such progress is possible only when women are provided complete safety and security.

Referring to emerging challenges, the Chief Minister said that earlier women mainly faced harassment in certain areas or public places, but online crimes have now increased significantly. Issues such as deepfake videos and cyber harassment are becoming more common. To address these threats, the Telangana Cyber Crime Department has been strengthened.

“The harmful practice of blaming the victim must end. Society should give up the mindset of blaming girls when incidents occur. Instead, we must embrace the spirit of ‘Stand With Her’ and support women whenever they face difficulties,” the Chief Minister said.

CM former Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Telangana DGP Shivdhar Reddy, Additional DGP (Women Safety) Charu Sinha, film actor Sai Dharam Tej, senior police officials and students participated in the launch of the Stand With Her campaign.
