The information that is being received about Ranjit Singh's case (in Gurdaspur district in February 2026), is a recent incident where the police claimed that he was accused of killing two policemen and was killed in an encounter. The police said that the ISI was involved in it and the murder was committed for money. But Ranjit Singh's family (especially mother Sukhwinder Kaur and other members) have called it a fake encounter. They are saying that he was taken away from home and later a fake encounter was shown. The family has not even accepted the body and has demanded a CBI investigation. Opposition leaders like Bikram Majithia and Sukhpal Khaira have also met the family and demanded an impartial investigation. Human Rights Organization is also expressing concern about this and demanding a judicial inquiry. This matter is still in dispute and different sides are saying different things. What is said about the importance of speaking out against oppression and the participation of those who remain silent is very true and profound.
