Spread across nearly 4 bighas of land, Charnock Lohia Hospital is the result of a meticulous restoration effort that has preserved the architectural grandeur and heritage character of the Grade I structure, while fitting it with modern super speciality healthcare facilities. The project represents an investment of over Rs. 250 crore and stands as a rare and exemplary case of adaptive reuse of a historic property for public good. The hospital is also expected to generate employment for nearly 1,000 people, contributing significantly to the local economy.

Strategically located within 500 metres of Girish Park Metro Station, the hospital offers excellent connectivity to Burrabazar, Jorasanko, Nimtala Ghat Street and Vivekananda Road. With multiple access points and ample parking facilities, the hospital ensures easy accessibility to high-quality tertiary care for the densely populated central business and residential districts of Kolkata.

Charnock Lohia Hospital features world-class infrastructure designed to deliver comprehensive tertiary and critical care services. The 250-bed facility includes over 90 ward beds and 20 private cabins, supported by 70 ICU beds across multiple critical care specialties. The hospital is equipped with 4–6 state-of-the-art modular operation theatres, dedicated Cath Lab, CTVS and Neuro operation theatres, a 10-bed emergency department, and a 10-bed dialysis unit, complemented by advanced diagnostic and imaging facilities - ensuring seamless, technology-driven care under one roof.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Prashant Sharma, MD of Charnock Hospital said, “Across Bengal, several historic properties with immense potential remain underutilised. Through Charnock Lohia Hospital, we have demonstrated that heritage conservation and modern healthcare can coexist seamlessly. Central Kolkata, particularly Burrabazar and its surrounding areas, has long been a vibrant commercial hub but lacked access to a modern private super speciality hospital within a five-kilometre radius. With the launch of Charnock Lohia Hospital, we are addressing this critical gap. Timely access to advanced care can be life-saving, and our vision is to bring world-class healthcare closer to where people live and work - true to our philosophy of Patient First.”

About Charnock Lohia Hospital: Charnock Lohia Hospital exemplifies a unique confluence between Heritage & Healthcare. The 200 year old grand structure represents a neoclassical architectural blend adhering to the Greek and Roman order. Charnock Hospital has restored, renovated and transformed this heritage building into a 250 bed NABH compliant state-of-the-art Super Speciality Hospital with 80 ICU beds, Modular OTs, Cath Lab & advanced Imaging. Charnock Lohia Hospital emphasizes the deep emotional and historical value by maintaining the exterior facade while installing advanced technology.
