Police have busted a gang involved in an armed robbery that took place around midnight in the Manikdaundi Chowk area of the city. Pathardi Police arrested three of the five accused, while a search is underway for the remaining two. Among those arrested are two minors.

According to available information, Amir Habib Shaikh (34), who is engaged in the flex printing business, had parked his motorcycle outside his house on the night of February 21. At around 12:30 a.m. on February 22, when he stepped out to put up banners, he noticed five youths behaving suspiciously near his motorcycle. Upon questioning them, he found three of them tampering with the bike’s wiring.

When he protested, the accused assaulted him. One of them pulled out a country-made pistol from his waist, pointed it at his head, and threatened to shoot him. They then snatched ₹650 in cash and fled the scene with his motorcycle.

Acting swiftly on the information, a police team led by Vilas Pujari arrested Aniket Shamvel Shinde (22), a resident of Dehuroad, along with two minors. One adult accused has been remanded to three days of police custody by the court.

Police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and two stolen motorcycles from the accused. The Pulsar motorcycle used in the crime was also found to be stolen.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Somnath Gharge, Kallubarme, and Neeraj Rajguru. The prompt police action has been widely appreciated across the region.
