Deadly Bus Accident In Nepal :: A Serious Bus Accident Occurred In Nepal. --- 18 People Died,

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 23, AIMA MEDIA NEWS: A serious tragedy has struck Nepal. A bus going from Phokara to Kathmandu met with a serious accident in Dhading district. 18 people died in this incident.. and 28 were seriously injured. Among the deceased were 12 men and 6 women. The bus lost control on the Prithvi Highway at Bhaisigowda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5 and plunged into the Trishuli river. The incident is believed to have taken place at 1:30 am today (Monday). Police said that a New Zealander was among the dead. They said that a Japanese and a Dutch national were among the injured. Police believe that excessive speed may have been the cause of the accident.
DSP Thapa of the Nepal Armed Police Force said that there were 45 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. He said that rescue operations are underway at the scene in coordination with the three security agencies. He said that the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The details of the deceased and injured in the accident are yet to be ascertained, DSP Thapa said.
Road accidents are common in the mountainous country of Nepal due to poor infrastructure, old vehicles and dangerous terrain.
