Banda, Uttar Pradesh, February 21,AIMA MEDIA NEWS : A special court in the state on Friday sentenced to death Ram Bhawan, a former junior engineer of the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department, and his wife Durgavati for sexually exploiting 33 minors (boys), including a three-year-old child, over a period of more than a decade, officials said. They sexually abused the children and recorded the sex videos and sold them to foreigners on the dark web. The POCSO court sentenced the husband and wife, who were arrested in this case investigated by the CBI.

Ram Bhavan, a junior engineer in the irrigation department of Chitrakoot district in Uttar Pradesh, and his wife Durgavati were found guilty of sexually abusing children. They lured and seduced children aged five to 16 from Chitrakoot, Banda and nearby districts. They recorded videos of sexual acts with them. They sold the videos on the dark web with foreigners. They earned lakhs of money.
Meanwhile, the CBI has investigated these allegations that have created a stir. It conducted searches at Ram Bhavan's house. It seized Rs. 8 lakh in cash, 12 mobile phones, two laptops, a hard disk and six pen drives. Forensic examination confirmed that a large number of child sexual abuse videos were found on those devices. The investigation revealed that child porn videos were being sold to foreigners through encrypted platforms and darknet channels.
On the other hand, in October 2020, Ram Bhavan and his wife Durgavati were arrested by the CBI officials. A case was registered under sections of the POCSO Act and the Information Technology Act. The police also arrested a man from Delhi in connection with this case.
However, the POCSO court in Banda has been investigating the case for six years. Finally, it gave its verdict on Friday. The couple, Ram Bhavan and Durgavati, were found guilty and sentenced to death. The court ordered the state and central governments to provide financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh each to the families of the victims.
