BREAKING NEWS: Safari to Resume from February 21 in Mysore Region

Mysore: Good news for safari lovers! The safari services that were suspended on November 7 due to human–tiger conflict will resume from February 21 (Saturday).
Eshwar Khandre, Karnataka’s Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, has instructed officials to strictly implement specific conditions before restarting operations. He held a meeting with officers from Mysore, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar divisions and confirmed that an official order will be issued.
Key Conditions for Safari Resumption:
Only 50% of the safari vehicles and staff that were operating before November 7 will be allowed.
Safaris should be conducted mainly through buses.
The use of jeeps and campers will be very limited.
Strict action will be taken against officers if any conditions are violated.
Focus on Human-Wildlife Conflict Areas
Special attention will be given to conflict-prone zones in:
Bandipur National Park
Nagarhole National Park
Officials have been directed to:
Identify sensitive areas.
Increase forest patrols.
Prevent wildlife from entering human settlements.
Human Life is the Top Priority
The Minister emphasized that while wildlife protection is important, the safety of people living near forest areas is the top priority. Measures will also focus on crop protection.
Revenue Utilization Plan
35% of safari revenue will be allocated for:
Skill training programs for youth in forest-edge villages.
Providing fodder for livestock.
Supporting children’s education.
Cooperation with Local Communities
Forest officials have been instructed to:
Maintain friendly relations with locals.
Take them into confidence for effective forest conservation.
Work collaboratively for wildlife protection.
