Surgical Scissors In Stomach: Woman Has Been Suffering From Abdominal Pain For Five Years -- Kerala Health Minister Orders Investigation
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State, February 20, AIMA MEDIA News: Five years ago, a woman underwent surgery. But for some time now, she has been suffering from severe abdominal pain. An X-ray revealed that she had surgical scissors in her stomach. The Kerala Minister has ordered an investigation into the incident.
A woman named Usha Joseph from Kerala has been suffering from abdominal pain for five years. However, it was found that she had surgical scissors in her stomach. She underwent surgery at the Government Medical College in Alappuzha in 2021. During the surgery, doctors left forceps in her abdomen. The surgery was done as part of the treatment for a uterine disease. However, during that time, they left scissors in her abdomen. Due to this, she went to the hospital again several times. But the government doctors did not take care of her. Due to this, the woman went to a private hospital. Forceps were found in the abdominal X-ray. Currently, this incident has sparked a huge controversy in Kerala.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George responded to this incident. She said that an investigation will be conducted into the issue of the scissors being left in the stomach. She said that strict action will be taken against the doctors who performed the surgery. There are allegations that Dr. Lalitambika performed the surgery on the woman to remove uterine fibroids. The medical department has constituted a medical board based on the complaint. Usha will be treated today at Amrutha Private Hospital in Kochi. The scissors in the stomach will be removed through surgery.
Dr. Lalitambika has now retired from the service. She says that she did not perform the surgery. Usha was admitted to the hospital as she was nearing retirement. Dr. Lalitambika said that even if she had another 50 years in her stomach with forceps, there would be no harm to her health. The doctor said that Usha was bleeding due to a urinary stone, not due to the scissors. Minister Veena George refuted the doctor's comments. The minister supported the patient Usha's family.
