Giant Mahakal Shiva Statue was set up at English Bazar Town.

A Giant Mahakal Shiva Statue was set up at English Bazar Town.It was gifted by Smt. Chobi Das, Councilor of Ward No.-12 of English Bazar Municipality. On Sunday afternoon, the special day of Mahashivratri, District Youth President of Trinamool Congress, Prosenjit Das surprised the people of Malda by inaugurating the statue in Puratuli Bandh Road area of English Bazar Town in Malda, accompanied by local Brahmin priest community. The Mahakal Shiva statue was inaugurated by lighting the lamp with the rhythm of Bengal's traditional Drum ,Dhak and Dhol. Due to Higher Secondary Examination, the sounds of Dhak may be restricted.Prosenjit Das said that the statue will be inaugurated after the higher secondary examination with full spiritual honour. On the occasion of Shivaratri, Special Aarthi was done with the blowing sounds of Conch and beat of Dhak and Dhol and the surrounding area was lighting with multi-purpose electric lamps, and Prosenjit Das also participated in Aarthi with the lamp in his hand.
