School of Media Studies, JNU Jaipur, celebrates Radio Fiesta on the occasion of World Radio Day

Jaipur, 13 February 2026:
The School of Media Studies, Jaipur National University, celebrated World Radio Day with great enthusiasm through a vibrant programme titled “Radio Fiesta” on 13th February 2026. This year’s global theme, “Radio and AI”, highlighted the evolving relationship between traditional broadcasting and emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
The programme was graced by distinguished dignitaries. The Chief Guests included Dr. Sandeep Bakshi, Hon’ble Chancellor, JNU Jaipur; Sh. Lokesh Kumar, Deputy Director General, Akashvani Jaipur; Sh. K. D. Shukla, IB(P)S, Assistant Director (Programmes), Akashvani Jaipur; and Sh. Dinesh C. Sharma, IB(E)S, Assistant Director (Engineering), Akashvani Jaipur.
Dr. Sandeep Bakshi, Hon’ble Chancellor, JNU Jaipur, emphasized that “Radio has always been the most democratic medium of communication. In the age of Artificial Intelligence, radio is not losing relevance—it is evolving. AI can enhance content creation, personalization, and archival preservation, but the human voice and emotional connect of radio will always remain its greatest strength.”
Sh. Lokesh Kumar, Deputy Director General, Akashvani Jaipur, highlighted the adaptability of radio, stating, “From analog transmitters to digital streaming and now AI-supported broadcasting, radio has continuously reinvented itself. Even today, in remote and border areas, radio remains the most dependable and trusted medium.”
Sh. K. D. Shukla, Assistant Director (Programmes), Akashvani Jaipur, remarked, “Content remains the soul of radio. AI can assist, but creativity, ethics, and responsibility must guide broadcasting. Students must see AI as a tool—not a replacement for journalistic integrity.”
Prof. H. N. Verma, Pro Chancellor, JNU Jaipur, stated, “Radio has been a powerful instrument of social awareness, national integration, and educational outreach. In the era of Artificial Intelligence, it is important that technology strengthens human values rather than replaces them. Platforms like ‘Radio Fiesta’ encourage students to explore innovation while remaining rooted in ethical communication.”
Prof. R. L. Raina, Vice Chancellor, JNU Jaipur, remarked, “World Radio Day reminds us that radio is not merely a medium of the past but a dynamic force of the present and future. The convergence of Radio and AI opens new academic and research opportunities for students in media studies. Such initiatives reflect JNU Jaipur’s commitment to blending tradition with technological advancement.”
A major highlight of the programme was the release of the book “From Airwaves to Changewaves: The Journey of Radio in the Making of Modern India” (ISBN No. to be updated), reflecting on radio’s historical contribution and its transformation in the digital era.
The cultural segment featured a mesmerizing Folk Symphony performance by renowned Rajasthani singer Madhu Bhatt, celebrating the rich musical traditions of Rajasthan and reaffirming radio’s deep connection with folk culture. Students from the School of Media Studies and other schools of JNU Jaipur showcased their talents through engaging performances, underscoring radio’s continuing relevance among youth.
The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Maulik Shah, who emphasized radio’s evolving role in the age of Artificial Intelligence and digital convergence. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by him. The programme was gracefully anchored by Manisha Sharma and Tarun Vyas, who kept the audience engaged throughout.
“Radio Fiesta” not only celebrated the legacy of radio but also explored its future in an AI-driven world. The programme will be broadcast on 13th February 2026, marking World Radio Day and reinforcing radio’s enduring significance as a trusted, innovative, and inclusive medium of communication.
The event was also attended by Prof. R. L. Raina, Vice Chancellor, JNU Jaipur, and Prof. H. N. Verma, Pro Chancellor, JNU Jaipur, who appreciated the efforts of the School of Media Studies in fostering academic and creative engagement around radio broadcasting.
