Six Medical Shops Sealed in Anantnag for Violating Drug Norms.

The Drug Control Authority in Anantnag conducted surprise inspections across several medical sale establishments in Seer Hamdan, KP Road Anantnag and adjoining areas, sealing six shops for alleged violations of drug control norms.
According to sources, during the inspection drive, officials collected samples of medicines from lesser-known pharmaceutical companies for laboratory analysis to verify their quality and compliance with prescribed standards.

In Seer Hamdan, sale operations of three medical establishments were disallowed after authorities found non-maintenance of mandatory records related to Schedule H1 drugs. Schedule H1 medicines, which include certain antibiotics and other prescription drugs, require strict record-keeping to prevent misuse and ensure regulated dispensing.

Sources said that in total, six medical sale establishments in the district were sealed for violations, including failure to maintain proper documentation and non-adherence to prescribed regulatory norms.
During the drive, chemists were sensitised about the importance of procuring medicines only from authorised dealers and maintaining proper records of purchase and sale. They were also advised to strictly follow guidelines related to stocking and dispensing of Schedule H1 drugs.
Officials reiterated that such inspection drives will continue across the district to ensure safe, regulated and lawful availability of medicines in the market. Authorities maintained that the move is part of ongoing efforts to curb irregularities in pharmaceutical trade and safeguard public health.
