Anantnag Police Arrest Drug Peddler; Heroin-like Substance Recovered*

Continuing its firm action against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband during a naka checking operation in the district.

A police party from Police Post General Bus Stand established a naka at Tarpora Chee Bridge. During the naka checking, a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number JK02BJ-2322 was intercepted for routine inspection. During search of the vehicle, officers recovered a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 13 grams from the possession of the driver. A cash amount of ₹20,000 was also seized from his possession. The accused has been identified as Zakir Ahmad Khan, S/o Bashir Ahmad Khan, R/o Randigam, Pulwama.

In this regard, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station, and investigation has been taken up.
