The inoculation cost ranges between ₹200 to ₹300 per tree, amounting to approximately ₹1.2 to ₹1.8 lakh per bigha. This step is crucial for producing commercially valuable agarwood.
The harvesting period begins after 7 to 8 years, when each tree can yield a minimum of 1 kg of agarwood chips. Current market rates for agarwood chips range between ₹80,000 to ₹1,00,000 per kilogram, depending on quality. This translates into a potential gross income of up to ₹4.8 crore to ₹6 crore from one bigha of land, making agarwood one of the highest-return agroforestry crops available today.
