"West Bengal Govt Transfers 13 IPS Officers, Announces New Postings"

West Bengal Government Transfers 13 IPS Officers on 30 Jan 2026

The Government of West Bengal’s Home & Hill Affairs Department issued a notification on 30 January 2026 announcing the transfer of 13 IPS officers with immediate effect. The transfers are made “in the interest of public service,” and the new postings are as follows:

1. Praveen Kumar Tripathi, IPS – shifted from CP, Howrah PC (IG rank) to CP, Barrackpore PC (IG).
2. Murli Dhar, IPS – moved from CP, Barrackpore PC (IG) to CP, Bidhannagar PC (IG).
3. Amit P. Javalgi, IPS – transferred from CP, Chandannagar PC (IGP) to IGP, Burdwan Range.
4. Mukesh, IPS – shifted from CP, Bidhannagar PC (IGP) to IGP, Murshidabad & Jangipur Range.
5. Syed Waqar Raza, IPS – moved from DIG, Murshidabad Range to DIG, Nadia & Ranaghat Range.
6. Kankar Prasad Barui, IPS – transferred from DIG, Telecommunication, WB to DIG, Prison, WB.
7. Shyam Singh, IPS – shifted from DIG, Burdwan Range to DIG, Telecommunication, WB.
8. Alok Rajoria, IPS – moved from DIG, Traffic, WB to DIG, Barasat Range.
9. Akash Magharia, IPS – transferred from DIG, Presidency Range to CP, Howrah PC (DIG).
10. Bhaskar Mukherjee, IPS – shifted from DIG, Barasat Range to DIG, Presidency Range.
11. David Ivan Lepcha, IPS – moved from CO, SAP 4th Bn. (DIG rank) to DIG, Traffic, WB.
12. Gaurav Lal, IPS – transferred from DC, ESD, Kolkata (Jt. CP rank) to CID, WB (DIG).
13. Dr. Koteswara Rao, IPS – shifted from SP, Sunderban PD to CP, Chandannagar PC (SP).

The appointments take effect from the date of assuming charge and will remain in force until further orders. The government stated the reshuffle is aimed at enhancing public service delivery and police administration in West Bengal.
