Inauguration of Newborn Care Corner at Divisional Railway Hospital,Malda

A Newborn Care Corner (NBCC) was inaugurated on 26.01.2026 at Malda Divisional Railway Hospital in the august presence of Smt. Manisha Gupta, President, Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ERWWO), along with all esteemed members of Eadtern Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (ERWWO),Malda. The event marked a major milestone in enhancing neonatal healthcare facilities within the Malda Division.

This scintillating initiative, undertaken under the visionary leadership of Shri Manish Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Malda, and Dr. Anupa Ghosh, Chief Medical Superintendent, Malda, is integrated with state-of-the-art infrastructure aimed at providing quality care to newborns. The New Born Care Corneris designed to offer immediate intrapartum and postpartum care, while also nurturing a deep emotional connect with maternal wellbeing and camaraderie.

Aligned with the *lHon’ble Prime Minister’s Samagra Swasthya Mission,the newly inaugurated facility is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) by ensuring timely, accessible, and effective neonatal care.

To enhance operational efficiency and readiness, healthcare personnel at Malda Divisional Railway Hospital were provided in-house hands-on training on Neonatal Resuscitation, conducted in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Malda Division. This training ensures that the staff are well-equipped to provide life-saving interventions during critical neonatal emergencies.

The establishment of the Newborn Care Corner reaffirms Malda Division’s commitment to delivering inclusive, efficient and compassionate healthcare services for mothers and newborns.

During the visit, Smt. Manisha Gupta, President of ERWWO, interacted with the dedicated healthcare staff of DRH Malda,appreciating their commitment to patient care and service excellence.
