Faridkot:27, January (Kanwal Sra) Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, organised a one-day workshop titled “SHE 4.0 – Tech Startup Connect & Grow” at the Senate Hall of the University to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and women-led startups in the health and allied sectors.
The programme was graced by Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, MLA Moga and Member, Board of Management (BOM), BFUHS, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, she reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s strong commitment towards women empowerment and appreciated BFUHS for creating platforms like SHE 4.0 that encourage young women to explore innovation and startup opportunities.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Sood, Vice Chancellor, BFUHS, highlighted that innovation and entrepreneurship are increasingly emerging from universities and small towns. He lauded the Startups’ Handholding & Empowerment (SHE) Initiative of the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) and encouraged students, particularly women, to embrace entrepreneurial thinking alongside their professional education in health sciences.
Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director, PSCST, provided insights into the SHE 4.0 programme, explaining that it is designed to handhold aspiring women entrepreneurs from idea validation to product development, mentoring, market linkage, and access to funding. She emphasised that the initiative builds a structured ecosystem by connecting women innovators with industry experts, academic institutions, and startup enablers.
The Plenary Session on “SHE Cohort 4.0 – Innovations & Entrepreneurship” featured eminent speakers including Mrs. Reeva Sood, Founder & Managing Director, Agriva Naturally , Dr Deepak Kapoor Senior Scientist, PSCST, Dr. Gowri Jayamurugan (Founder, Gowriz), Dr. Aashna Narula (Founder & Director, Psychopedia – Virtual Mode), Ms. Palak Periwal (Co-Founder, Buckitoz), Ms. Anita Dhiman (Founder, Right Wrap – Virtual Mode), Dr. Jyoti Kataria (Women Entrepreneur), and Dr. Surbhi Jain (Founder, Whimsical Bakes), who shared practical insights on innovation, startup challenges, and real-world entrepreneurial experiences.
The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Gajindera Singh, who congratulated Dr. Seema Grover Bhatti, Prof. & Head, Department of OBG, Shri Sameer Kant Ahuja, Dr. Isha Tapasvi, and Dr. Anshul Brar for the successful conduct of the programme and expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, speakers, PSCST, and participants.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of the constituent colleges of BFUHS.
