Continuous rainfall in the plains and light to moderate snowfall in the higher reaches were reported across different areas of Kathua district till early morning today. The persistent weather activity led to a significant drop in temperature, intensifying cold conditions in the region.
Upper areas including hilly belts experienced fresh snowfall, while lower and plain regions witnessed steady rainfall throughout the night. Due to the prevailing weather conditions, daily life remained partially affected, especially in remote and elevated areas where movement became difficult during early hours.
Cold winds accompanied the rainfall, forcing residents to remain indoors. Vehicular movement on interior and hilly roads was slow due to slippery conditions, though no major disruption or damage was reported till the filing of this report.
The district administration and concerned departments are closely monitoring the situation and have advised people, especially those living in higher reaches, to remain cautious. Travelers have been urged to avoid unnecessary movement during early morning hours.
