Jammu, January 22:
In view of the upcoming 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, the Jammu administration has placed the entire region under high security alert, with intensive checking drives and deployment of dog squads at strategic locations.
Security forces including Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and other paramilitary units have intensified surveillance across markets, bus stands, railway stations, highways, government buildings, and entry-exit points. Special focus is being given to crowded areas to ensure the safety of civilians.
Highly trained sniffer dog squads are being used to detect explosives and suspicious materials. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked, and random frisking of pedestrians is also underway. Security personnel are conducting round-the-clock patrols, especially during night hours.
Officials stated that the heightened security arrangements will remain in force till January 26, and citizens have been advised to cooperate with security forces during checking procedures. Authorities emphasized that these measures are purely precautionary to maintain peace and ensure incident-free Republic Day celebrations.
Senior police officials confirmed that intelligence-based inputs are being closely monitored and necessary steps have been taken to neutralize any potential threat. CCTV surveillance has also been strengthened at sensitive locations.
The administration has appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity and avoid spreading rumors. With these robust arrangements, Jammu is gearing up for a safe and secure Republic Day celebration.
