Woman Found Stuffed in Plastic Bag in Rajouri, Hospitalised in Critical Condition



Rajouri, Jan 18: In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves across Rajouri district, a middle-aged woman was found tied and stuffed inside a large plastic bag in the Tandwal area on Saturday evening, prompting serious concerns over public safety.
According to official sources, the incident came to light around 6:50 pm when locals noticed a suspicious plastic bag lying in the area and alerted the police. A police team rushed to the spot and, upon opening the bag, found a woman in a critical condition with her hands tied using a rope.
The woman has been identified as Azeem Akhtar (45–46), wife of Sabar Hussain, a resident of Kakora, Manjakote, currently residing in Ward No. 9, Rajouri.
She was immediately rescued and shifted to the Associated Hospital and Government Medical College (GMC), Kheora, Rajouri, where she is undergoing treatment. Medical authorities said the woman remains in a serious condition and is under close observation.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which the woman was tied, packed in a plastic bag (locally known as a bora), and abandoned in the area. Statements of witnesses are being recorded, and all possible angles, including criminal intent, are being examined.
The disturbing episode has triggered panic and fear among residents of Tandwal and adjoining localities. Police officials have assured the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated, adding that more details are expected to emerge once the victim’s statement is recorded.
