Police Arrest Notorious Drug Peddler; 1.6 Kg Heroin Recovered in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 18: In a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of heroin from his possession, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, a team from Police Station Khanyar apprehended a suspicious individual during routine checking at Munwarabad near the Sewage Treatment Plant. Upon search, two packets of heroin weighing approximately 1.6 kilograms were recovered from his bag.
During the investigation, the accused was identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hussain Dar, a resident of Ichgam, Budgam.
In this regard, FIR No. 04/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Khanyar. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and wider network involved in narcotics trafficking.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug abuse or illegal narcotics trade.
