CUO Observes National Youth Day with Run for Swadeshi and PM’s Live Address.

Report by Nishapati Nayak : The Central University of Odisha (CUO) observed National Youth Day on 12 January 2026 at its campus to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The occasion was marked by the organisation of a Run for Swadeshi and live streaming of the address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, delivered during the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue.

The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor (I/c.), Prof. N. C. Panda, inaugurated the Run for Swadeshi by offering floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda and addressing the CUO fraternity. In his address, Prof. Panda urged students and faculty members to imbibe and practise the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in their daily lives. He also recited some of the renowned quotes of Swamiji. The Vice-Chancellor led the run, which commenced from the New Academic Block, with active participation from faculty members and students.

Following the run, the University community witnessed the live streaming of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address on the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue.

On this occasion, the Registrar (I/c.), Dr. Rakesh Kumar Lenka; the Finance Officer, Mr. Duryodhan Sethy; the Head of the Department of Economics, Prof. Rathikant Kumbhar; along with faculty members and students, participated in the programme. The programme zwas coordinated by Dr. Ramendra Kumar Parhi, Dean of Students’ Welfare, and Dr. Anjeneyullu Thotapally. Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, Public Relations Officer, delivered the vote of thanks.
