AMU Research Scholar Presents Paper at International Conference in Sultanate of Oman

Aligarh, January 12: Mr. Md Hifzur Rahaman, a research scholar in the Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), presented his research paper at an international academic conference held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

Mr. Rahaman presented a paper titled “Inertial Splitting Subgradient Method for Solving Equilibrium Problems and Its Application” at the Sixth International Conference on Numerical Analysis and Optimization (NAO-2026). The conference was organised by the Department of Mathematics, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, from January 5 to 8, and witnessed participation from researchers and academicians from across the globe.

The research work was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Syed Shakaib Irfan. The study focuses on equilibrium problems and explores inertial splitting subgradient methods with practical applications in optimization theory. As a real-world application, the paper examines a Nash–Cournot oligopolistic market model with price elasticity, offering insights into strategic decision-making by competing firms under elastic demand conditions.

Congratulating Mr. Rahaman, Prof. Asma Ali, Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics, said that such international academic participation highlights AMU’s strong research culture and its growing global academic engagement.
