MANUU Student Slams Government Over Land Survey, Warns of Protest; KTR Assures Support

A student of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has strongly accused the state government over the issue of university land, warning of protests if the matter continues. Addressing the issue, the student said the government should not treat the university as a “revenue-generating machine” and alleged that land-related actions are being carried out under the pretext of a “routine survey,” similar to past controversies at the University of Hyderabad.

The student also claimed that after students decided to protest, they received threatening phone calls, raising serious concerns. Criticising political parties, the student alleged that land sale policies earlier followed by the BJP are now being adopted by the Congress as well. A stern warning was issued that continued action against MANUU could politically cost the Congress at the national level.

Meanwhile, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) met MANUU students at his residence in Banjara Hills. Students informed him about notices issued over more than 50 acres of MANUU land. KTR assured full support, calling it unfair to target an educational institution serving minority students, and said he would raise the issue at appropriate forums to protect the university’s rights.
