Kishtwar blaze: 20 residential houses damaged, several livestock charred, 4 injured

At least 20 residential houses were damaged in a massive fire that broke out late Thursday night in a village of the Dachhan area in Kishtwar.


The fire spread rapidly due to the close proximity of houses and the presence of wooden structures. Difficult terrain and poor road connectivity hampered the movement of fire tenders, resulting in a delayed response.

Several livestock were charred to death in the incident, while four persons sustained burn injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby health facility, where their condition is stated to be stable.

Firefighting operations continued for several hours with the assistance of local residents before the blaze was brought under control. A damage assessment is underway, while authorities have initiated steps to provide relief to the affected families.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. (KNT)
