It is the duty of all departments to create awareness about road safety rules. National Road Safety Month is being celebrated from January 1 to 31. It has been decided to conduct programs on road safety rules in schools and colleges as well. The main reason for accidents on the roads is lack of awareness among the people and violation of road safety rules. Children under the age of 18 and driving without vehicle insurance, violating road safety rules by ignoring the police, causing road accidents and ruining people's precious lives. Driving faster than the speed limit, driving recklessly, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are also major reasons for accidents. Therefore, he said, teachers in schools and colleges should educate students about road rules.
Additional District Superintendent of Police Mahantesh Sajjanara said that awareness should be created not only in schools and colleges but also among our neighbors about road safety rules. Wearing a helmet while driving is mandatory and no one should be negligent about this. For the development of the country, we should drive by following road safety rules. Due to the negligence and even a minute of excitement of the drivers, accidents occur and their lives become difficult. Parents should not allow their children under the age of 18 to drive. Therefore, awareness is very important, he said.
District Bar Association President R.G. Kallur and School Education Department Deputy Director R.S. Burudi spoke and said that speed limits have been set on the roads and humps have been built to prevent accidents. But motorists avoid those humps and drive on other roads, allowing accidents to happen unnecessarily. They said that compliance with road safety rules is very important for everyone.
