Teen Girl Dies by Suicide After Lover Refuses Marriage in Hathras, Accused Arrested

A tragic incident has come to light from Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, where a 19-year-old woman died by suicide, allegedly after her lover refused to marry her. Police have arrested the accused and initiated further investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Kamini Sharma, who allegedly consumed poison on Monday afternoon at her residence. Family members rushed her to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead.
On Tuesday, police recovered a video message from the mobile phone of Kamini’s aunt. In the video, Kamini is seen holding her alleged lover Akash responsible for her extreme step. She stated that Akash’s refusal to marry her and his family’s opposition to their relationship left her with no option. In the emotional video, Kamini apologised to her mother, calling her “the best mother in the world,” and said she did not want to die but felt helpless.
Police officials revealed that Kamini and Akash were in a relationship for the past four years. Based on the video evidence and family complaint, an FIR was registered under BNS Section 108 (abetment of suicide). The accused Akash has been taken into custody.
SP Hathras Chiranjeevi Sinha confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation is ongoing. Police said further action will be taken based on evidence and statements collected during the probe.
The incident has once again raised concerns over emotional exploitation and the mental health impact of failed relationships among youth.
