9th Foundation Day of North East Journalist and Digital Media Association Celebrated at Barpeta Road

The 9th Foundation Day of the North East Journalist and Digital Media Association was celebrated with a full-day programme on Sunday at Ramanujan Academy, Barpeta Road, under the initiative of the Barpeta District Committee. The event was organized with great enthusiasm and participation.

The programme began at 9:30 AM with the hoisting of the association flag. The flag was hoisted by Central President Rasnamani Gogoi, Central Executive President Kurban Ali Ahmed, and Barpeta District President Ilias Hussain. After the flag hoisting, all members took a pledge to uphold the ideals, unity, and responsibilities of the organization. This was followed by a tree plantation programme to promote environmental awareness.

At 9:45 AM, a tribute and memorial meeting was held in memory of journalists who lost their lives while performing their duties, along with tributes to Jubin Garg and other martyrs. All present observed one minute of silence. Speakers said that the sacrifices of journalists will always remain a source of inspiration for society.

At 11:30 AM, an open meeting was held under the chairmanship of Professor Safikul Islam, Head of the English Department, Navashakti College. Many eminent persons, senior journalists, educationists, writers, and social workers attended the meeting. The speakers discussed journalistic ethics, the importance of truthful information, responsible use of digital media, and the challenges faced by journalists today. The role of media in building society was also discussed in detail.
Earlier, at 10:00 AM, a drawing competition was organized for students. The competition was divided into Group A and Group B. The aim was to encourage creativity among children and increase their interest in social issues.

At 1:00 PM, a general meeting and felicitation programme was held. Senior journalists and individuals who made valuable contributions in journalism, education, and social service were honored with traditional Assamese gamosa and mementos. Speakers said that the younger generation would be inspired by their work.
Many distinguished guests, editors, journalists, educationists, and representatives of various organizations attended the programme and added dignity to the event. With the active cooperation of all participants, the programme was successfully completed.
Overall, the 9th Foundation Day celebration of the North East Journalist and Digital Media Association, Barpeta District Committee, proved to be an important step in strengthening the relationship between journalism and society
