IOC Promotes Clean Cooking Fuel Through PMUY 3.0

Koraput | Dec 14, 2025 - The Indian Oil Corporation organized a press conference in Semiliguda to create awareness about Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 3.0. Officials informed that eligible beneficiaries can apply for the scheme through their respective LPG dealers and avail themselves of free gas connections.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was first implemented in May 2016 with the objective of supporting women from economically weaker and deprived families by providing clean cooking fuel. Under the scheme, beneficiaries are provided a free LPG cylinder, pressure regulator, gas stove, hose pipe, and user manual without paying any administrative or processing fees.

Beneficiaries can choose between a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder or a 5 kg cylinder, depending on their household requirements.

IOC officials stated that allocation under the scheme is carried out strictly on the basis of a deprivation certificate, followed by proper KYC verification. Families applying for the scheme are required to submit essential documents, including ration card, Aadhaar card, and bank account details.

The scheme also extends benefits to migrant families, provided they submit all necessary documents and fulfill the eligibility criteria.

According to official data, 2.18 lakh beneficiaries in Koraput district have already received LPG connections under the Ujjwala Yojana so far. Officials urged eligible families who are yet to be covered to approach their nearest LPG dealer and take advantage of the government initiative aimed at promoting clean and safe cooking practices.
