Informational error on the website, Trinamool BLA dies of panic in Baisnabnagar

Allegations of negligence against the Election Commission A Trinamool Congress booth-level agent (BLA) allegedly died due to mental stress caused by an informational error regarding his father's name on the Election Commission's website. The incident took place in Baisnabnagar, Malda. The deceased has been identified as Barkat Sheikh (45). The incident sparked extreme tension from the Kaliachak-3 BDO office premises to the hospital. The Trinamool leadership and the deceased's family have directly blamed the Election Commission for negligence. Barkat Sheikh's family, residents of Chakseherdi village, claim that Barkat's father's real name is Rasul Sheikh. However, in the Election Commission's website, for SIR-related work, only 'Sheikh' was written in the father's name field. Upon noticing this informational error, Barkat began to suffer from panic. He feared that his name might be removed from the voter list due to this mistake. Samoun Sheikh, a relative of the deceased, said that Barkat was mentally broken after seeing this error on the website. Hoping to get the matter corrected, he went to the Kaliachak-3 BDO office on Friday. However, he alleged that he did not receive any assurance there either. Shortly after leaving the office, Barkat suddenly fell ill. Around 7 PM, he suffered a heart attack outside the BDO office. He was rushed to the hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Upon receiving news of the incident, Baisnabnagar MLA Chandana Sarkar rushed to the hospital. She expressed strong anger over the Election Commission's role. The MLA said, "Due to the extreme irresponsibility of the Election Commission, ordinary people are living in fear today. People are worried about losing their voting rights over minor errors in names. Barkat Sheikh became a victim of that fear and lost his life. He was not given any assurance even after going to the BDO office. The Election Commission is entirely responsible for this kind of negligence before the elections." She further stated that the matter would be reported to the party's high command, and a demand for strict action against the Election Commission would be raised. Meanwhile, local Trinamool Panchayat member Samiul Sheikh said, "People are suffering from immense mental stress due to minor errors in their names before the elections. Barkat was a dedicated worker of our party. He did not find any solution even after approaching the administration for correction. As a result of this system, a party worker has lost his life today." The incident sparked tension as Trinamool workers and supporters protested. Police from Vaishnavnagar police station arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control. However, despite multiple attempts to contact Kaliachak-3 BDO Sukanta Shikdar regarding the matter, he could not be reached by phone.
